Happy New Year!

After getting my twin bros nerves for hours while changing my clothes a hundred times I can say (or more likely SCREAM): I'm finally ready for the dinner with our girls! My outfit for the evening party is a big question mark still but luckily I've got time... ;)

Shirt/Jeans from H&M, shoes from secondhand shop

Hopefully you darlings are going to have a wonderful New Year!! Let's party tonight!

Man of the Month: Adam Levine

Look into my eyes I'll own you...

Do I really need to explain why I chose him? -No !
I thought so too. I've been listening Maroon 5 for years now and not only their music is getting better... Adam Levine is just getting hotter and hotter! He really got the right sense of style and I can't help loving all his tattoos (This can be, because I'm so coward to take one!) I tried to calculate them just to put the number here but my eyes got always stuck in his perfect abs somehow...

Anyways darlings, blame it on tattoos or muscles then but this man really is worth of being our man of the month! Here below are some videos you should listen... and I suggest to watch them too ;)

- Ninni
Ps. ... are you kidding me? Not only one look is enough. Watch them again darlings!

Movie time!

New Years Eve (loved it!) and Twilight breaking dawn 1 checked! I can't describe how wonderful it was to watch two movies with the good old friend H and of course: with loads of popcorns! After working in Germany for months it was a huge relief to just sit down and laugh like in good old times. And believe me, we laughed!

PS. Normally I hate when people do this but GUESS WHAT DARLINGS! Back then, I was (almost) in the same time in the airport of Helsinki as ADAM LAMBERT, wohoo! Unfortunately I was one hour too early and unaware that I could actually be there at the same time... too bad!

Present hunting continues!

Whiuuuh! Present hunting continues.
Only few days till Christmas and I'm totally in a hurry.

Dortmund

Shirts from H&M,
Soap bottle from Düsseldorf

FINALLY I've got a Christmas present for my twin brother! Boaah, it took so many hours to find something he'd need but also something little bit of extraordinary. Unfortunately I can't, once again, remember from where I bought this soap bottle but I'll update this when I'm flying back to Düsseldorf! It was near Heinrich-Heine Allee but what was the name... hmm... ;)

Earrings from SixCards from CineStar

... And something little for me too ;)
Next time more! Now, enjoy this lovely song. It's only 4 days till Christmas darlings!!

Present hunting for Christmas!

Phuuuh! After searching 6 hours Christmas presents, I think I've deserved a big cup of coffee! It was like going to workout or something like that! Luckily I was able to find the most of the presents and I don't need to loose my nerves while standing on a lines anymore. Comparing these lines in Finland and here in Germany... my god! Next time I'm going to be in Finland to buy these presents.

Headphones from Accesorize
Serviets from Mayersche
I think these two were totally sweet! ''Zuckersüss!'' means sugar-sweet and that definitely discripes all my closest friends. Headphones I bought for my friend A because she's totally crazy about Japanese theme. You know darlings: colorful clothes, cupcakes, funny accessories like cat ears or ''fox'' tails... I can reveal that even her boyfriend is half Japanese! (Maybe that's why she's so into this... oh, sweet love)

All hair pinns from H&M

Something sweet for the girl I need to look after here in Germany! Like you know, I'm working here as an Au Pair and I found this sweetness in one toyshop (unfortunately I forgot the name.)

And I have to admit, I bought something to myself too like for example this warm knitwear from Zara. I know the picture doesn't really tell how's the knitwear but I was in a hurry this morning. Maybe next time darlings! For some reason I'm crazy about these elbow patches and I needed to buy one item more with them ;)

Bags from New Yorker

Ps. Tomorrow I'll hit the Aachen!

Christmastime in Düsseldorf

It's been really busy my life here in Germany but this morning I prepared A BIG cup of cappuccino, opened my laptop and decided to write about my Christmas time.

Like every year, also this year I've been really lazy to buy anything early enough and  (like every year) I'm blaming myself for being so lazy! It's only two weeks before I'm flying back to see my family and my dear friends in Finland. I've only been strolling around in the city and enjoying the Christmas spirit (And done some SALE-shopping!)

But no stress about the presents, for me it's enough to see my dear family and closest friends doing fine. It's almost 3 months that we haven't seen each other so I think the greatest gift for me this Christmas is to get a big hug from them ;)

Pullovers from MANGO
These pullovers I bought last week from MANGO and I don't regret that! They're really warm and I tried to find the biggest size they have so they'd be nicely loose ( Haloo, in Christmas I want to eat...)

T-shirts for my twin bro!
Under-ones from H&M and David Bowie- shirt from Zara
Something to my brother indeed. I think I'm going to steal this David Bowie shirt from him because it actually fit perfectly with the leather jacket I bought this spring... ;) Watch out bro!

Next time more about my Christmastime shopping! Unfortunately I can't unveil our Feos present but I must say it's something truly mysterious.

- Ninni

Ps. I could relate to this song now! GERMANY, where is your SNOW! As a young woman who comes from the far North, it's almost shocking that here isn't snow at all (and when it comes, it melts straight away)

Exploring Germany # 3: Essen!

... This time only photos from Christmas market! I and a couple of friends of mine, we wanted to see how it's Christmas markets in Essen and wow it was totally crowded there! Nest Monday we're going to check up the stores, especially this new PRIMARK! Everyone keeps saying it's a good shop so let's go and see!

But next weekend we're heading to Aachen! Can't wait!

Germany! If there's one thing I hate about you...

I've felt like throwing my computer to the wall like 10 000 times here in Germany 'since any videos can not be seen. Halloooooo #&%¤"9"#¤{£@!!, what people are supposed to do if they're suffering from common cold?

Warm regards,  frustrated Ninni

Ps. Yes, you read right. The time is 3:07 in the night.

Oi Silvio!

Arrivederci Silvio! L'Italia farà da sè.

Cape – only for those with the self-confidence to deal with the gazes

1. A sleeveless outer garment fastened at the throat and worn hanging over the shoulders.
2. A brightly colored cloth used in maneuvering the bull in a bullfight; a capote or muleta.
tr.v. caped, cap·ing, capes
To maneuver (the bull) by means of a cape in a bullfight.

I’ve been into capes for a couple of years now but have never got the guts to wear it. Now it seems ridiculous to start wearing one because everyone’s got it in his or her closets. Yeah, you fashionistas keep telling it’s a fashion statement but is it if every teenager in the bloc has a rag draped around the neck. A cape (or a poncho if you like) has to come with the attitude to make a statement.

Demostration here:

Clint Eastwood

Hey, not everyone with an old rug on his shoulders can look that badass. Don't mess with me, punk!

Everyday was a Sushi day!

Don't blame me

I was surrounded by outdoor concerts, lucky me!

PS.  Oh, my lovely but still so bitter Feo, how I miss you :(

Furry October

I have never been particularly into fur in clothing. There has always been this thought in the back of my head that this collar of a coat or that hat has once been this cute, little, furry, happy creature.  You don’t really get the same feeling from leather boots; after all we use leather every day (at least most of us do).

I still would never buy a brand new fur coat and I feel like false fur always comes out cheap. Therefore, you either are a murderer or a teen-trying-to-be-fashionable.
But. There is always one.
IF you NEVER cross the fine line between tacky and classy (you know which side is the bad one, don’t you?) MAYBE, just MAYBE fur can be both ethical and good-looking. A small fake fur bag or a hat. Something like that.

Maybe a bit too much, huh?

My personal favourite, lady Catharine at her best.
Anyway, enjoy this beautiful, though grey October day.

Falling into the Fall

Oh, I feel so... fally today. Partly it`s because Ninni has left me and gone to Germany (not bitter or anything) and I miss my friend already. You really don't know what is important to you before you lose it. But luckily my dear friend is returning in three months to spend Christmas in Finland ;D
Anyhow, I'd like to share my Autumm-mood with you (last days of September!!!) with a couple of songs Ninni helped me to pick. ;) Thank you.

Poets of the Fall - Carnival of rust (My ultimate favourite band ever!!)

Green day - Wake me up when September ends

Coldplay - Yellow

Eric Clapton - Autumm leaves

With love, Feo

Au Pair-life in Germany!

Wohoo, here I am darlings! ALIVE. (Actually have been for a week now but as soon as I arrived I've been traveling with the family so much that I unfortunately haven't had time to do anything.) By this time I've been in Düsseldorf and in Bonn and seen a lot! Family is very warm hearted and they have cute 3 year old twins. For me this was really cool, since you know I'm a twin too.

Next week I'm going to check out Cologne ;) Can't wait!

Here is some simple practical German sentences just for you ;)
I'm going to teach you more later. Take Care you little!

Guten Tag! = Good day
Ich heiße Ninni, wie heißst du? = My name is Ninni, who're you/what is your name?
Ich mag dich = I like you
Entschuldigung = Sorry/ Excuse me
Du siehst sehr gut aus = You look very good.

Now if anyone notices, there are one or two letters wrong or a whole word, please keep it for your own information. I'd like to live in this perfect bubble and think I really know this language. Thank you.

- Ninni
Ps. Next time, you sweeties may see some photos I've taken unless I feel so lazy as I feel now !

Man of the Month: Nigel Barker

September: Nigel Barker

Maybe it's because of the suite, charisma or the tallness, I don't know. When hearing from one interview this man saying ''Finnish look is hot in New York'' on last May, the only thing I focused on while staring at him was this three worded word: hot.

I've always admired and secretly envied people, who truly dare to say things as they are and try not to wear their words in a pretty gown. Nigel Barker stole my attention when watching years ago this ''America's Next Top Model'' for the first time: I really liked how straight was on everything. Of course, like in every area, also in that industry I guess people need to say things straight and make decisionsto get what they want but this boldness of him really fascinated me... and the look ;)

In the end, I wanted to share these marvelous videos with you! Like Nigel, also I love photography, so here are some tips from the talented master himself!

Can't wait for the next America's Next Top Model to be shown here in the far North or in Germany!

- Ninni

Ps. You darlings can see him in ''Huippumalli Haussa'' here in Finland on channel 4 tomorrow!

Ninni, Against the Autumn Depression

Warm pullovers, colorful leaves, romantic candles, boots, chilly breeze... It's autumn darlings!

This time of the year I usually feel really depressed 'cause here in the far North days are getting darker and colder but somehow this year has been a bit different. I've actually waited that I could wear big and warm scarfs, proper blazers, pullovers and boots, definitely! Who'd thought! Guess miracles do happen. Of course I need to thank our Feo too because if someone is a true autumn person, she is (thank you dear.)

So I decided to help you darlings! In case some of you out there are too suffering from this awful ''autumn depression'' like I normally do, here are some hints to kill the depression! PS. If these doesn't work... well... I think it's time to be really concerned! ;)

-  Go and take a nap! I've read (or heard) from somewhere that those people who are sometimes taking 15 minutes long nap in the middle of the day or in the afternoon, are definitely more energetic and more perky but they're also more creative.

- Decorate your room/one of them again! Why be boring and keep furnitures always in the same place? Change their places, change your curtains, change the place of your paintings on the wall, decrease the junk/kitsch-items or organize them again, get some flowers in the vase...

 - Go for a walk (or jogging)! I myself couldn't say I am a huge fan of sports but every now and then I like to go for a walk and just turn my iPod on and observe people around me.

 - Enjoy a cup of coffee (or tea)! In my situation I usually take a warm blanket and go enjoying my coffee outside in our garden.

- Turn your favorite music on and do nothing (This is my favorite)!  Just lay down somewhere: On your bed, on the sofa, on the floor... etc and close your eyes. Literally do nothing but listen to music and let everything else vanish.

- Go to secondhand shop! In the autumn time I usually visit these places more often. I can't say exactly why. You might surprise how much there actually are things you would like to have and with the ridiculously low price...

 - Color your nails! Use only bright/light colors. Why always use those formal colors? The more crazier color you use, the more fun you have.

- Try your clothes on and mix them! It's fun to mix one shirt with different jeans, blazers and skirts and watch how many ensemble you can get. ATTENTION: Remember, when being a woman it's normal that you don't fit the jeans you used to wear when you were 13-15 years old ;) In case you do, congrats!

- Put some candles on and read a good book/magazines! Some of my good friends, including our Feo, would burst out laughing if they see I'm suggesting someone to read... I myself loathe reading over everything since I think it's pretty boring. It can suit for someone else but to me it just doesn't work. So, instead of books, you can always read different magazines!

- Organize movie night with your friends! Do some pizza together or if you are as lazy person as me, just order it. Pick up a movie you all like and watch it! HINT: Instead of pizza, you can split some cucumber, apple and carrot and dip it or have some popcorns!

- Daydream! (This is another favorite of mine) It's always time to do this and I myself think everyone should daydream more.

- Watch old photographs! Oh, those good old times... ;)

Fridays Five!

Today darlings our Fridays Five is a bit different than usual. I've been today the whole day hooked in these 3 youtube videos/Cover-Musik of Mike Tompkins. I thought, I'm going to share these brilliant songs with you darlings ;)

Let's have an easy-going Friday sweeties! Here we go...

25.8.2011

It's done! I've sent my Au Pair applications and now they're heading to Germany. Brilliant! Let's keep our fingers crossed darlings that there are still at least one family needing an Au Pair in a minute there... ;)
Some bargains from sales and secondhand shops

While waiting, I decided to go and see if there is something new in the nearest secondhand shops with my best friend and guess what: There were plenty!
Still, since I don't actually roll in money right now, I didn't have afford to most of the things I wanted (Yes, and I was in secondhand shop...) This is what you get when you're living a student life. Other problem is: Do I actually live student life if I I'm spending my year off...

Because today I need to drive by car to a couple of hours north and I'm spending a couple of days there, I'm afraid I don't have time to give you our Fridays Five tomorrow. But don't worry:I'm giving it today instead! Enjoy you little things ;) Have a wonderful weekend in every corner of the world.

Can I adopt this hairy loveliness?

This weekend I drove by my car to a small city on the Southern coast of Finland, to my best friends apartment. I had so much fun there! The whole weekend we did nothing but ate junk food, watched movies, talked, laughed till it hurt our tummies and kept company to one lovable stray cat. (She was actually so sweet that I considered to adopt her.)

Meow!

Words that could describe my weekend could be extreme lazy and cosy. So lazy actually that I forgot to translate the rest of my au pair papers like references and my CV to the agency. I actually forgot our Fridays Five too *embarrassed*... Oooops! And this lazyness just keeps going... oh God.

Luckily I have at least a couple of weeks left to translate those papers before they're being sent to Germany.  What a relief! So, my Au Pair period in Germany can wait for some weeks! ;)

Mystery of Men #3

''We're going to find it''
''It should be somewhere here, you wait and see''
''I'm sure it's here near... Just follow me!''

Yes.. Once again I've had too much time and observed this ''smarter'' sex of human. In case you darlings didn't quite catch the idea from the quotes above, you can try this situation yourself:

YOU WILL NEED
 - One unknown place to you and your company
(eg. cafeteria, shop, park... anything goes.)
- One man
(Doesn't matter who. I'm sure anyone goes as long as you take a man with you.)
- Patience and understanding, a lot.

First, decide this unknown destination together (this way he cannot blame you choosing really hard place to find.) Then, try to find there together. When seeking this place, try yourself just observe how he's reacting when he doesn't find the place. Notice something really frustrating but still kind of amusing? ;)

He cannot admit he just doesn't find the place. Easier would be just ask someone for help but no. No no no! That is out of the question. No one can be smarter than he, so asking for help is totally forbidden. (According to one of my friend, read: according to one man, it shows you're weak if you need to ask.)

So, they rather roam in the street for tens of minutes looking extreamly confused than ask for help and get in their destination in a couple of minutes? Indeed. Kinda cute eh ;)

Germany, here I come!

Darlings, finally they're here! Oww!

Shirt from H&M
High heels from very small shoe store in Lahti, Finland
(Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the store)

After spending half of my summer searching for perfect RED high heels I found them. God, I'm so happy. What's more, I've finally decided where I want to go and have my au pair year: In Germany. It's decided.
The crucial factor in deciding where I would like to go in the end was that I got a postcard from my friend in Berlin ;) I truly realized how much I miss the country and decided it's my course. Now I only need to translate some important papers like references and CV and send those to the agency... workworkwork!

Colorless nail polish from Lumene
Yellow and white nail polishes from Tokmann

Ps. Our Fridays Five is spending its summer holidays darlings, that's why it hasn't been here ;)
