If you just look out the window by-passers are smiling and feeling happy after long cold days, at last. Marimekko. I love it.

While reading Cosmopolitan (May 2011) I had a huge surprise: Article about Marimekko. Marimekko is definitely known not only in Finland or elsewhere in Europa but also in Japan and in Australia, for instance. Now they're opening a flagship store on New York's Fifth Avenue (address 200 Fifth Avenue.) This is going to happen in autumn 2011 if we believe the article in Cosmopolitan and the official site of Marimekko here  ;) Let's wish them Good Luck!

The firm has also worked together with H&M in Spring 2008 and now in spring 2011 we can see the results of the cooperation of Marimekko and Converse. Fantastic!

Ninni and I plus a couple of our friends decided to sell our old and shabby clothes in a second-hand store ;D Every summer people want to shop and buy new wardrobes but, as every student knows, not every girl has a bottomless purse (or a REALLY shamelessly and filthy rich boyfriend). So it´s good to get rid of the old rags and get paid for it at the same time. ;D

This time you darlings got good reason for shopping

While checking my own e-mail box today I noticed I've got new message from H&M Fashion News: Fashion Againts Aids 2011 -collection has arrived.

In case you don't know what this is you can check more information here . Sharply saying, or well what I've understood, in this campaign different artists and H&M have designed clothes which are sold in H&M stores. The money profit they'll get goes for AIDS/HIV prevention and they're trying to create awareness about this awful disease.

I really put a high value on this. It's a serious matter and needs everyones attention. In 2009 I bought one T-shirt from this collection and I'm going to do it this year too. I'm suggesting to you sweeties to do the same! You don't loose that much money yourselves and what's more: you have a good reason for shopping ;)

Our 1 minute in nature

Sounds almost like in jungle? Well I don't know about that but this was new to me.

While being outside, sitting in stone terrace early in the morning at the countryside I had to film the sound of the nature to you! The noises of the birds were quite loud. As a young citizen I still can't but just wonder how is this noise even possible... And just ignore those the knocks and sounds my mom made ;P

Just turn your speakers a little bit louder and enjoy!

Inspired by Nature: Countryside

Howdy! Like many of you might know I spend my Easter at countryside with my relatives. Despite I had prejudices my weekend there went pretty well and I really got really inspired by the nature there! Everything was so calm and beautiful.

Here are some photos I took but I have a word of warning to you: Don't judge the quality of the pictures! Try yourself to drive a car, talk with your passengers and look out for those suicidal pheasants who are jumping like crazy in the way AND take photos! Luckily no one got hurt! Not bad for a girl who have had her license not long ago, eh? ;)

... Beautiful and calm. All in all I have to say I truly enjoyed my weekend! While driving to the farm I went through one city and I noticed something REALLY strange and amusing ... want to know what? Stay tuned ;) Here is some sort of a hint for you little darlings! Easter Sunday

Don´t know why, but for some reason I´ve been having these mustdosomethingwithmyhands-seasons. Last year in the autumn I knitted a pullover. A huge, colossal one. And I hate knitting. Very mysterious. Wonder why...

Anyway, when Ninni and I visited a fabric shop not so long time ago I saw the cutest rose patterned piece of cloth ever at a reduced price. Had to buy it ;D Now I´m planning to make a summer dress from it. We´ll see what will become of that. I´ve been sewing all day long with bloody fingers and this is what I´ve accomplished. ;D  Happy day. 

 

 Oh, btw, once Ninni comes out from the forest we can finally show what we did last weekend ;D

Lazy cosy afternoon

Hah, and while Ninni is trying to cope with an overdose of family time and freedom, I can spend Easter at home ;)

I´ve spent the last two days just laying on the sofa, watching old movies with my four cats and drinking coffee. Yes, I´m an addicted to that stuff.  (And seriously, I sometimes think those furry devastators actually ARE watching TV. At least the animal documents and sport. Swimming is their favourite ;D) I mean, could it get any better than this. Since my dear friend Ninni and I have stressed the last three months over our matriculation examinations it´s really strange to just let loose and vacation. Especially when our entrance examinations are coming up. Can´t wait. (We are both applying for university.)

So, I´m wishing every one of you darlings a very stress free afternoon ;)

Start of something really serious

Something serious happened in my wardrobe: Total destruction.
For ages I've been telling my friends ''When it comes to clothing, this year I'm going to chance my style more feminine'' but today it started. At last. I threw over half of my goods to bin bag and as an environmental friendly person I'm going to sell them in one secondhand shop with a group of my friends. Of course our Feo is coming too ;) Honestly, I'm not going to miss those clothes and accessories at all 'cause I haven't wore them for years! Now I'm just wondering what has taken so long... I'm I lazy or something?

So long old, colorful hoodies and jeans. Welcome blazers, blouses and high heels !

Not that it wasn't cute but I just shocked 'cause I expected to see tiny tiny tiny birds there. I apologize for the bad qualities of the pictures but I highlight the randomness and the difficulty of the situation and definitely the word ''morning''

What would be nicer than spending a rainy day watching old photos? Today I've watched at least three hundred photos from last summer and I miss the time a lot ! Sunny days, good food, picnics, football, colorful clothes, beaches, many good parties, hotness... It was super warm, almost infernal, weather here in the far North too. Like many of my friends also I turned 18 last summer! It was maybe the best summer I've lived and I'm sure this summer is going to be at least as good as the summer last year. Can't wait! I needed to put here some summery photos to brighten the feeling... ;)) I also decided to link some fantastic music here. These really made the last summer memorable! Enjoy, little darlings...

Lazy day indeed ! I hope you little darlings have enjoyed this day 'cause I definitely am! It has finally been warmer and sunnier week after very long and cold winter here in Finland. Today we haven't got anything super special for you (sorry<3) but with a good reason: I and our Feo have been preparing the mysterious thing we've been telling you. Because it has taken so long, I decided to give to you sweeties little hint: Jim Carrey got it in 1994, King Tut had one, you can see ones in theaters... even Paloma Faith have got one! Next we're going to have ones, stay tuned !

It was on Helsingin Sanomat in Finland, on  Sveska Dagbladet in Sweden, on Financial Times in Britain, on Der Spiegel in Germany,... even  BBC News wrote about it. And now it's here, on our blog, too. Politics.

When entering a cafeteria early in the morning with my mom all were talking about it: yesterdays election in Finland. Top 3 results were:  National Coalition Party 44 seats with the support 20.4%, Social Democratic Party 42 seats with the support 19.1% but the most surprising was a party called Perussuomalaiset or in English True Finns ( this official site didn't found in English). They got 39 seats which were +34 seats more than in the 2007 parliamentary election held in Finland. True Finns support was now 19.0%.

This truly was a huge surprise to me and many of my friends and acquaintances. Some liked it, some didn't. It was the first time we actually got an opportunity to take a part to voting because now we have the age to do it. I think now we can only hope they're doing right choices and everything in this new government in Finland, Good luck!

Tired of Politics? I would say, maybe. Still, it's a serious issue and according to BBC News it's ''reflecting a trend across Nordic and Western European countries.'' Some like it, some doesn't.

Politician. Ex-foreign Minister. Master of Arts. Master of Science. The most positive Finn 2009. And we adore him.

For some reason there is something about this man that makes my knees go weak. If a man can smile like Alex can he can make people do whatever he likes. And willingly. 

Alex runs. He even outrun his own bodyguard in Etiopia. (The bodyguard ended up having medical care. Apparently 40 degrees Celsius and 8 kilometers run was too much for him. But not for Alex.)

He is running for Parliament. The voting boxes were taken to calculation just a bit over an hour ago and it may well be that our favourite is gonna make it.

Too smitten to write anything rational. Love him.

Movie of the Month !

''She is beautiful, vulnerable, sexually naive and susceptible to mental illness. To play the role of a lifetime'' as Peter Bradshaw said in his review, we totally agree. We visited the cinemas the other day just to  check what´s currently on screen. We saw an ad about Natalie Portmans Black Swan. On the spur of the moment we couldn't help but buy tickets. Suddenly we wanted to go back in time, back to our childhood and start taking dance lessons because with this physical appearance it seems impossible to look cool while wearing really tight pink tutu.

We could have never though that Natalie Portman could ever win Oscar or become a noteworthy actress. But it was before seeing Swan. It was almost scary how well she was able to but her soul into two different kinds of personalities and we have to admit she was really thrilling! And God damn she was beautiful... damit. Love her. All in all we suggest that if you haven't yet seen it you'd better go immediately and buy it, rent it or whatever: just DO IT! But take this as a warning: We do not recommend Black Swan to neurotic, haunted, distressed or depressed people because it really drives you think the state of your own sanity...

Finally I found the dress. No, it´s not pink but it´s as close to cute and pretty as I could get within three days. After all, bright, pink and sparkly isn´t really my cup of tea. (Black is always in fashion, luckily). Hopefully we could get better fotomaterial from the party. ;)

Still struggling for what to wear to the party tonight? YES!
I hope our Feo has been more lucky ;)) This theme princess&pink really drives me crazy... Meanwhile my brains are working hard to find anything suitable for tonight I would like to tell you something magnificent and glamorous happened last autumn... Here we go!

Talking about princesses and princes, I had a change to see REAL royalties in my own little country ! And this is not a joke. I was one of the lucky ones when crown princess of Sweden Victoria and her husband Daniel were visiting in Finland. Oh, that elegance and beauty! They both looked very happy and stylish. It was a magical moment. I had earlier watched their gorgeous wedding from TV and now they were actually standing there right in front of me! All I remember is my hands were shaking and my heart was beating very very very hard and guess what?
 .... Of course, in all that fuss, I forgot to take a photo, stupid me. But the moment will stay always in my heart! I guess, I'll never be that near royalty...
