Incorrigible Romanticist and Died Out Gentlemen

When entering a restaurant they are there. When going to jogging, they're there. When going to grocery store, they're there... Specially when going to harbor to have a ice cream with your friends, all you can see is them. Happy couples all over the place.

When going to have a walk with our Feo some time ago I remember we were talking about this. Love. In the summertime like this it's all over the place. Not that it's a bad thing, I myself am an incorrigible romanticist but what combine me and our Feo is that we both are suffering from a hard commitment-phobia. Really.

In my situation, I think it's more because of I'm an old-fashioned fool who believes everlasting love and who turns every approach efforts from guys down if there isn't some sort of connection between me and him straight away. It sucks but that's just the way I am. An incorrigible romanticist. Inexplicably, in this weekend I've had mysteriously watched Moulin Rouge two times, played piano and only love songs, wore only delicate and fragile dresses and shirts and wrote a letter to one of my friend who lives in Germany. That was too much romanticism even to me when I think that now...
Still so far, like many other poor young woman has had, I've had these constant insipid comments like  '' Hi you look really hot... I've followed you the whole evening. Shall we go to my place and... you know... ''  when only this simple  ''Hi my name is... I truly would like to know you better. ''  would be enough or at least a way better choice.

Whoah, good God where are all the Gentlemen! I think they have just died out.

Ps. When it comes to our lovely Feo, I can give to you a little hint: She likes that man should be THE man. Not just any berry picker, you know. True man, an alpha male... You darlings didn't hear this from me, if she asks ;)

Song of the Moment
- Elton John // Candle In The Wind -

Somehow piano music has always impacted me a lot. Today definitely, since I've felt a bit emotional. Who'd have more experience about emotional music and playing piano than this man. Elton John may not be in the top 10 lists now in the music charts but to me he's a legend. Just listen his magnificent voice and enjoy the piano darlings.

Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did

Loneliness was tough
The toughest role you ever played
Hollywood created a superstar
And pain was the price you paid
Even when you died
Oh the press still hounded you
All the papers had to say
Was that Marilyn was found in the nude

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did

Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
Goodbye Norma Jean
From the young man in the 22nd row
Who sees you as something more than sexual
More than just our Marilyn Monroe

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did

And I would have liked to known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did

Inspired by Style: Haute Couture

As I promised you earlier, I'm going to reveal what I learned about Haute Couture.

When having ever understood nothing about this whole Haute Couture term and knowing only a very little about fashion industry, I decided to civilize myself about this mysterious black whole in my head by watching a BBC documentary ''the Secret World of Haute Couture.''

First, I truly found out that it's something that doesn't fit together with a wallet of a poor student! You need to be quite affluent to have a cloth that is real Haute Couture.
Then, what actually is this mysterious Haute Couture? Based on this documentary I learned it is a way they do clothes, lifestyle and an art-form. Inside of this world of Haute Couture is a glamorous world, full of wealthy and distinguished people who do not want to be in the circle of a public-eye. That surprised me. They had interesting interviews with many famous people who are a part of this Haute Couture world and these people said: ''If I see it on a movie star, I don't want it anymore. It's done.'' I must say I recognize myself in this sentence too. I've never been too delighted if I see someone wearing a same kind of a dress or shoes that I have already.

Maybe it's a part of being young or a woman, I don't know ;)

Chanel Spring 2011 Haute Couture
photo from: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NrtXr-niK_0/TUrwRCFN2GI/AAAAAAAAAC
4/RhVQokxHSY8/s1600/9ChanelSpring2011HauteCouture.jpg

When concentrating on clothes, Haute Couture is a certain way they do clothes.
Clothes can be Haute Couture only when they're made in France, in Paris and in fashion house that is a member of Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. Clothes need to be done carefully by the best artisans and best fabrics money can buy.
They said in this documentary that famous fashion houses like for example Dior or Chanel don't usually reveal the prices or the clients to anybody but they said only one dress that is Haute Couture costs shocking sums (to me definitely YES) and I truly believe that. The clothes they show in this documentary were breathtaking even though this documentary were quite old. They even show Karl Lagerfeld drafting a sketch and a few interviews with him.

Chanel, Haute Couture

Why waste a lot of money to clothes? Even though I'm a student and not that affluent, among money others in documentary I'd answer: Why waste a lot of money to piece of arts, like paintings and sculptures? The reason to spend money to clothes that's good quality is the same. When seeing these fantastic clothes on runway I think when it's made by someone herself or himself and not only with machines and mass production, it's unique. It's a piece of art just like some paintings or sculptures. Some express themselves through paintings, sport or music. Some through handwork.

To me the idea of spending money to clothes that truly can be applicable and long-lasting for years sounds brilliant! Inspired by this I'm going to keep this idea in my mind when going to buy a clothes. Maybe I don't have afford to these beautiful breathtaking clothes but at least I've decided to stop buying these ''impulse buys''...

Haven't yet seen these documentaries?

Talking about inner sense of something.

Fashion fades, only style remains the same.
                                                - Coco Chanel

Some people just have it. That certain aura of… what? Style? Self-confidence? I personally don’t know what it is and I believe I have never achieved it properly (I have tried, oh yes, I have tried) but I definitely can tell when I see one.

You could call it Perfection Without Completeness. That moment when you look at a person who is imperfect in his/her ways but still wonderfully, individually admirable. Let me give you an example.

Jenni Vartiainen, a Finnish pop-artist. She used to be a part of a pitiful pop-group Gimmel (and now all teen-age princesses start throwing rocks and tomatoes at me). Really. Shameful. Pop band. Well I quess you could call it a deviation of youth.

Good God Gimmel is dead.

But for some reason after going solo Jenni became known as an exceptional beauty. She found it. No matter what she wears, she manages to look absolutely magnificent. Her presence makes the air shiver like water and she is unquestionably the queen of the night. Ok, maybe a tiny bit of exaggeration there (maybe) but you got the point.

What a wonderful woman.

I solemnly swear that I`m never going to stop looking for it or something. Promise.

''Special education and earlier experience, needed''

'' Special education and earlier experience, needed '', sounds familiar? Definitely.
After spending a couple of these passed months only watching movies and spending my time with my family and friends, I decided that this truly needs to change. I just can't lie on the sofa these couple of weeks when waiting if I got in any universities I applied. Because I don't know if I got in, I can't apply for au pair place either.

When starting to find a job this situation got more complicated. I realized this reality of job seekers weekday isn't a kind of a walkover. It's hard to get a job, specially for this short time, without any special education or earlier experience or what's more irritating: Without family member connection. Argh!

After loosing my nerves and whining this harsh reality of mine to my nearest and dearest, I started to find this ''Special education'': Hygiene Proficiency Certificate! Now I only need to pass the exam of its on Wednesday.

Wish me luck darlings! ;)

Guess what, I did it!
I got the Hygiene Proficiency Certificate and a JOB ! Wohooo !

Worth Seeing - KUMU, Tallinn

In case you little darlings haven't ever visited in any art museums I suggest you to do that. Honestly, I have to admit I understand modern art (like modern pictures and sculptures) as much as every non-visual artistic person does, so don't be afraid of visiting these museums if your relationship with modern arts is closer to 0% or less ;) It's quite civilizing and fun experience, especially if you take couple of your friends with you !

Last autumn I and a group from my school visited in KUMU, in Estonia. It's an art museum which contains exhibition halls and to me the pieces of arts there were quite modern and dashing. Kumu offers a lot not only for those who are well-informed with the visual arts but also for someone like me who isn't that abreast about arts, visual arts especially.

You darlings can read more about the museum here. (Page in English.)

Photographing was allowed in the museum so I and my friends truly made a most of it. Unfortunately a little voice of sense says in my head not to publish those photos here ;)

... At least I found one photo of me that is decent!

When visiting KUMU I need to give you a little hint: Don't miss these amusing little details like this here below! There can be these kind of surprises in every corner and in every door, so promise to keep your eyes open darlings ;)

Excuse me, what isn't allowed to do...

Ps. Information for those people who are always worried about food: yes, you can have something to eat there. In Kumu, there is a small kind of cafeteria where you can have a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

In case you want to know more about this art museum of Estonia check this !

Man of the Month: June

The Swedish Ice King

This time the HOT Summer wind is blowing from the North: Alexander Skarsgård. This amazing actor has hit Hollywood hard with his cold, bold features (and not to mention those eyes.) We have seen him in the vampire-series True Blood (1000-years old Viking vampire) and even in Lady Gagas music video Paparazzi. (Spoiler: on the video he gets poisoned by the megastar, damn.)

Gaga: “I just killed my boyfriend”

Even though we Finns do not particularly adore Swedes, this one just melts our hearts.
Btw, he has been voted the sexiest man in Sweden FIVE TIMES.

"Yeah. First of all, sex and violence are always something that attracts an audience, and vampire stories usually have a lot of both. And, vampires symbolize consistency and something that's permanent, in a world where everything is constantly changing -- humans, animals, nature and even mountains will change over time. To have something that will just stand the test of time is attractive. Eric has been around for a thousand years, and he hasn't changed one bit. That intrigues people. What makes good drama is that people are intrigued by that and drawn towards it, but at the same time, that comfort they feel in something that is consistent, is also lethal and can kill them in a second. That creates a good platform for drama ."

"There's a [Samuel] Beckett quote, where he said, 'Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail better.' I love that quote,"
Gosh, isn`t he adorable??? ;D

Disney, Haute Couture and Fridays Five

Mulan !

What could be more relaxing than watching old films of Disney when suffering from flu? Yes, I'm dead serious, Disney's children films. Within these couple of days I've watched almost all these old movies and to tell you the truth: I didn't remember how amusing these films can be! In case you darlings think you're too old for these, you really should give them a try!

In addition, I watched a document about Haute Couture from the Chanel Liv.
When having ever understood nothing about this whole term and knowing only a very little about fashion industry, I decided to civilize myself about this mysterious black whole in my head. The only thing I already knew about Haute Couture was: It has something to do with the way they do clothes and with famous names like Chanel, Christian Lacroix and for example Valentino. When feeling a bit better I might tell you little sweeties more ;) Instead, today I've decided to civilize you our little darlings in our ''Worth Seeing'' page later on!

Now, it's time for our Fridays Five. Even though I can't party like a little wild animal today, you sweeties can do it for me. I insist you to have really fun and great Friday in every corner in the World ;)

Our Fridays Five today, Enjoy !

New site: Song of the Moment

Not once, not twice. Even listening it three times isn't enough.

On page ''Song of the Moment'' you little darlings can enjoy some songs we've chosen from Youtube. Songs can be from a popular artist/band or from not so famous musicians, rebellious and energetic rock music or calm classical music. Melancholic or happy. New or old. The main thing is that those songs have impressed us in some way: from their lyrics, melody or their feeling.

Ps. When seeking from Blog Archive you can find older texts later on. You sweeties will find the newest update we've written from ''Song of the Moment'' - page under the name of our blog. Enjoy, you little sweeties.

Song of the Moment - Lady Gaga//Scheiße

Since hearing this song once, it has been playing again and again in my head. To me, the lyrics of the song are quite fun and joyful! Love it. The song, the artist.

Traveling Plans

Have you little darlings ever considered having an ''au pair year'' in foreign country?
I definitely have. After completing my school and applying for many universities, this au pair year in foreign country sounds like a perfect plan to me. I truly feel I would need a sort of a break from all the haste and the demands of our school system here.

However, harder question is: Where do I want to go? I have already been as an exchange student in Norway and in Germany, thanks to my old school and its international exchanges. To tell you the truth, I left my heart in Germany. I miss my ex-host family and my friends there. Going back to Germany wouldn't sound a bad idea to me even though in a way I would definitely like to see something totally new. Something different and unexpected!  Maybe Australia, USA or Asia ;)  I can already see me standing in front of the Great Wall of China, shopping in the center of Tokyo, exploring in some kind of a rainforest or sun bathing in the shores of Australia, spotting kangaroos while desperately trying to have a photo of them with my cheap but loved camera...

... and of course doing the chores I'm asked to do ;)

Report from Helsinki-Day festival/concert

Feo and I in the sunglasses and one of our friend ;)

Festival or concert, whatever you call it. The main thing is we enjoyed our infernally warm day in Helsinki-day event yesterday. There were many Finnish artists performing there, like for example Poets of the Fall, Sunrise Avenue and  Happoradio. They all really rocked the show! Among these artists that I just named, there were one band who totally surprised me: Negative. They truly captured my whole attention, even though I had prejudices towards them. Have you darlings seen the percussionist of them? I couldn't take my eyes off him... ;)

This event was filmed and you little darlings can see it from TV in this week. I think it's also coming to Internet, so all you little sweeties who aren't live in Finland right now can see it too ;)

Oh, by the way, I have to share this randomness to you! I saw some celebrities there yesterday ;) I saw one dancer from the TV-program Stage  but unfortunately I can't remember the name of him. I also spotted Sauli Koskinen, the boyfriend of Adam Lambert ...Or at least I thought I saw them. I can't be 100% sure but... you never know ;)

Here below are some photos I took yesterday. The direction changes are because we tried to get closer to the stage.

Poets of the Fall

Sunrise Avenue

Happoradio

Jonne Aaron // Negative

Lauri Ylönen

Poets of the Fall

The percussionist... ;)

Samu Haber // Sunrise Avenue

In case of you want to hear some music from these bands I suggest these three bands and their songs ;)

Enjoy!

About my outfit in the festival, there were some changes even though I was astonished the style of Ashley Olsen a couple days ago. The reason was, I wanted to look like myself, not just a copy of someone else. Still I have to admit her style was the inspiration of mine. Because I usually prefer keep things simple, I wore a black shorts, black and quite long tube top, denim/jeans waistcoat and my loafers I bought from secondhand shop.

Girls hit the music festival // Inspired by Style: Ashley Olsen

I'm so excited about tomorrow! We're going to spend a great day with the couple of our good old friends in Helsinki-day concert. Several famous Finnish artists and bands (like Poets of the Fall, Sunrise Avenue, Happoradio...) are going to perform there and what is the best is that this whole thing is free. Yes, I'm dead serious: in Helsinki and free.

The only thing I'm worried about is the weather: When living this North and being used to mainly chilly temperatures, what can you possibly wear when it's over + 30°C in shadow and actually look like you're not totally suffering from the infernal heat. What is more: They have forecasted thunder and rain for tomorrows evening...  I've been looking inspiration to this troublesome situation from the Internet the whole afternoon and accidentally, to my huge surprise, found it! Ashley Olsen.

I bet like many of you sweeties, also I have been seeing her pictures in magazines every now and then. She definitely has the right sense of style and now she truly saved my day. Thanks to her, I've planed to wear black shorts or quite short black pencil skirt, white top with some lace, black low wedge heels, black sun glasses, turban and maybe take my artificial leather jacket with me ;)

Can't wait !

With all of my love to Dogs // Fridays Five

It's quite practical to own many black or dark colored shirts and jeans you know.
You don't need to be afraid they're getting unclean right away when putting them on and the color black is almost always pretty elegant and proper for many occasions. Not all occasions, of course not. But many still.

However, there's something, or more like someone, who inadvertently happens to make these saving clothes unsuitable and unofficial. DOGS. When it comes to wear dark colored clothes nearby dogs you can say goodbye to your favorite T-shirt or jeans. Today I've been seeking for ages just one piece of clean and HAIRLESS dark jeans for the parties tonight without any luck. There is dog hair everywhere, even when my jeans have supposedly been washed just yesterday... yea, as if.

While using my afternoon picking these dog hairs out from my jeans you little darlings can set yourselves to the party mood with our special Fridays Five. All videos from youtube, naturally ;)

Enjoy your Friday you little sweeties. Let's party tonight !

Our Fridays Five today

Ps.  Dear Feo, you hit the nail on the head! I'm planing a trip to somewhere but I'm not going to reveal where,  yet! Here is a sort of a hint for you and to our sweeties;) I love the song and the band by the way!

Hit the road jack

Me and the horseman ;D

After spending night after night reading other peoples travelling blogs and hearing my friends telling my how wonderful their a fortnight holiday was I have been longing to pack my backpack and hop into a next plane I get. My restless persona aches to hit the road but what can you do with a lack of cold hard cash.
Egypt, Istanbul, Amsterdam, Ireland, Scotland, you name it.

Anyhow, I´ve been wanting to visit Istanbul for a long time now. A beach holiday isn´t really my cup of tea. Therefore mixed cultural attractions (statues, fortresses, bazaars, museums and palaces) and endless possibilities would offer a lot of ways to loosen up a bit. Too bad I´ve seen only pictures.
I believe Ninni is also planning a trip somewhere???

Amusement Park - a place you darlings need to visit in summer

Rollercoasters, cotton candy, cute guys,  ferris wheel, soft ice cream, carnival spins riders, funny photos, sunny day, laughter, carousels, junk food... and a best friend with you

Sounds like a perfect day to me! Yesterday I had a great day with my best friend in one amusement park called Linnanmäki in Helsinki. While sitting in one rollercoaster I started to think why in the world I haven't done this for a long time? I mean, is it over 5 years now since I visited in amusement park last time... Horrible.

However, yesterday I had the time of my life and we both laughed so much that it started to hurt. I suggest all to visit amusement park at least once in summer! You can't ever be too old for those ;)

WANTED: Red high heels, red lipstick and the right attitude

While enjoying my morning coffee in the sun and reading some magazines my dad gave me from his visit in Germany, I had an inspiration for this summer parties: Red high heels, black dress and a red lipstick. Perfect combination.

Thank you dad !
For a young woman like me, who usually doesn't use bright colors at all and a woman who usually wears only black and white, this might sound quite drastic change. Still, I decided to take a new page and a new attitude in my life. And this doesn't include only this ''clothing style change'' I've been telling you. Why fear bright colors specially in the summer? When my best friend asked me this I said ''I fear they don't fit me since I don't have perfect body''. Only then I realized: How low was that actually? Why pine for something I don't have. Why spend years for wearing only black and white bothering myself for just as stupid thing as that?
I call that really bad self-esteem. I knew something needs to change.

Not that I don't think black and white isn't good and classy combination but when wearing only these for years and years it's getting a bit boring you know ;) That's why I'm not saying good bye for my black and white clothes but welcoming new page and a new bright and happy colors in my life!

Some good music to your day darlings ;) I love the song and the attitude of the artist.

Total breakdown.

Total breakdown. Sweat, blood and tears. Oh, this drama...
I'm sorry to say darlings but today I can't give our Fridays Five to you. I'm in a hurry because of the tomorrows graduating party but I promise to give that later on. Earlier this day, I even considered to cancel the whole graduating party because of the massive stress, chaos and hurry...

Marshmallows to my little cousins! Cute, eh? ;)

This song (linked below) really describes the feeling today! Specially the name of it ;)
The band came familiar to me a couple of years ago, thanks to our Feo!

Ps. And of course only now I heard that there is interesting event near Finland today! In Moscow: the Muz-TV Awards! Guess I need to be satisfied the versions we can find in the net and wish all the artists good luck... To tell you the truth, some luck in my life tomorrow would be more than welcome.
I hope the arrangements of our Feos graduating party has been more successful than mine.

I think all what matters tomorrow is that at least I can enjoy the day with my nearest and dearest: Family, relatives and closest friends ;)

Mission impossible – an extremely impossible version

Phew. Just 2 days until the graduation celebrations. The Dress, check. The Shoes, check. The Hat, check. Mission impossible carried out, finally.

Btw, it´s interesting how people manage to spend on their graduation. For example, one of our dear friends has spent over 700 Euros just on her dress and shoes. I mean, gosh, it´s just one day. And the main point in all that celebrating isn´t dazzling with the looks or trying to brag how much money your family and guests have given you.

I´m going to invite my friends and family to praise that I´ve accomplished something in my life. Something worth partying. And in my opinion that´s how it should be.

- Feo
